Brother MFC-420 Review

Sleek, sexy, and sassy - it sounds like the description of some sort of beautiful sports car, but it's actually a great way to describe the Brother MFC-420cn. Brother has been making printers for a number of years and is one of the most trusted names in the printer business. But is this printer something that is actually a good option for homeowners or business people, or is it something that should be avoided at all costs?

What Is It?

This printer is designed to be a low cost model that is able to compete against those in a much higher price range. It's classified as a multifunction printer and can do everything from printing photos to printing documents. For this printer you can purchase ink cartridge refill kits so that you are able to save money, and you can also find Brother ink cartridges available as well. It also features built-in media card readers and is network ready so that you can allow everyone in the house to hook up to it, even though it is not wireless.

The Good

The best thing about this printer? What you get for the price. When you purchase the Brother MFC-420cn you'll be paying a fairly low price, but what you'll get is a printer that is designed to work extremely well. This printer prints out high quality text and the color graphics make any photos printed out pop right off of the paper that it's printed on. The media card readers are also ideal for homeowners who are looking to print their own photos out at home, as you do not have to upload your pictures onto your camera in order to print them out, simply put them into the card reader and you can print straight from the printer.

The Bad

There are two "not so good" things about this printer. First is the amount of paper it can hold. Unlike other printers it can only hold a small handful of paper, so you'll find yourself refilling the hopper frequently. The other problem is that it is made of very flimsy parts. The plastic is not as sturdy as most owners would like it to be, but then again that may be one way that the company keeps the cost of the printer down.

The Verdict

If you're seeking out a high quality printer that doesn't have a high price tag attached to it, the Brother MFC-420cn is definitely a great option to look into.
