Brother MFC-9320cw Review
Finding the right printer at a great price is tough these days, and because all-in-one inkjets are typically less than a hundred bucks, many home office users choose these over laser printers. If you have a need for high quality text printing, though, lasers really are the way to go. Fortunately, Brother has provided just the machine for us. It is the Brother MFC-9320cw. One of the most popular models in Brother's new choices for home offices.
Because the Brother MFC-9320cw makes use of LEDs instead of lasers to produce its pages it falls under the heading of "laser-class". It's got all of the functionality you want from a laser model without the pretentious price. What's more, though, is that just about all stuff you get with an all-in-one inkjet are also found on the Brother MFC-9320cw which might make it the idea printer for a small business or home based office.
Decked out in institutional beige and gray high-impact plastic the Brother MFC-9320cw looks and feels like it is ready to handle some serious printing. This bad boy weights in at just over fifty pounds and is rather long as well.
Don't look for a high-res LCD screen on this machine because it's not there. The LCD is narrow, only 2 inches, and has only 2 small lines that can display just sixteen characters each. The Brother MFC-9320cw fortunately has lots of clearly labeled and logically positioned buttons. One of them is even a scan/copy/fax button to make it easy to use the functions you'll demand most. Want to print directly from an USB memory card or camera - well there's a button for that also, even allowing you to reduce and enlarge.
The Brother MFC-9320cw uses four toner cartridges (three color and one black) and one drum unit, which are supplied but aren't full capacity. To make is easier for us Brother has color-coded the toner cartridges. Replacement cartridges are pricey compared to inkjet cartridges but are rated at higher pages. Replacement cartridges for the three color toner cartridges are rated 1,400 pages and are listed for $69.99 each. The $74.99 black toner cartridge has a rating of 2,200 pages. The cost of the drum will be around $150.00 and has a 15,000 page rate.
This recommended monthly amount of cycles for the Brother MFC-9320cw is between 300 and 1,500 pages, this should be a sufficient amount for a small business or home office. The Brother MFC-9320cw will cost a little over 4 cents for black text and 16 cents for a page that contains both text and color graphics. That's pretty high on the price scale compared to other laser-class printers. Of course these figures are calculated from the suggested retail price for the cartridges and drum.
While it might not be a bargain - having a purchase price around $500.00 - the Brother MFC-9320cw is a good performer and produces outstanding printed text. Overall for the small business or home office it might be the best laser-class printer choice.
