A Comparison of HP Wireless Printers
As the trend in our great nation moves toward "work from home," our office equipment also becomes more accommodating. If you need evidence of this statement, then just take a quick peek at the many different models of wireless printers offered by Hewlett-Packard. Knowing that a home office is often not as clearly defined as those outside the house, the inventors of these very compact, wireless pieces of brilliance have made an instrument that allows the user to occupy a completely different room than it does.
There are two distinct series of wireless printers offered by this manufacturer to serve different purposes depending on the line of work being done. The first is the HP Photosmart series. There are four models in this series. The lease expensive will set you back about ninety dollars. This model is named the HP Photosmart c4780. It is a very compact all-in-one with copying and scanning functions. It prints up to twenty-nine pages per minute and is accompanied by digital imaging software that is compatible with Windows Vista. However, for a little additional cash, you can purchase the HP PhotoSmart Supreme. This model has optional fax capabilities, a faster printing speed, a secondary photo paper tray, and connects directly to the web via its 3.45" touch screen. If you would like a slightly larger viewing screen, direct print from the web options, and the ability to print directly to CD or DVD, then you may choose to spend slightly more for the high-end HP Photosmart Premium Touchsmart Web model.
Similarly, the HP Officejet series has a wide range of capabilities, beginning with the lease expensive model, the Officejet J4680, which can be found priced under eighty-dollars. This is an all-in-one model including fax capabilities with an automatic feed that will handle up to twenty sheets of paper. This printer is an excellent value, however if you are looking for something with better color quality, automatic two-sided print capability, and able to hold a larger number of pages per tray and feed, then you may want to consider one of the more expensive models. TheOfficeJet 6500 wireless, OfficeJet Pro 8500 wireless, and the OfficeJet Pro 8500 Premier range in price reaching a high end of $350. The price you are willing to pay will determine the image quality, feed capabilities, print speeds, and blue tooth capability.
So which is better, the Photosmart series or the Officejet series? Well, it depends on the type of work you intend it for. If you are looking for high resolution photographs, one-touch access to photo related sights, and computer-free printing, then the Photosmart series is far superior. However, when it comes to speed, page per month capabilities, and smooth office operation, the Officejet series is a clear winner. Thus, knowing your printing habits will immediately narrow the list of potential candidates, then, as with anything in life, you will get what you pay for when it comes to Hewlett-Packard wireless printers. However, even the least expensive models are far from cheap.
