Epson Stylus Photo R2880 Printer Review

Epson has been a player in the game of printers for a very long time, creating some of the most popular home based printers that have ever been sold. The company tends to stick with a similar design with each new printer they release, although the technology tends to change drastically, especially if you're talking about the quality of the prints that it is capable of handling. If you're looking for a decent printer that does some unique things, the Epson Stylus Photo R2880 is a printer that you might want to consider.

What It Is

This printer from Epson is definitely one of a kind and is unlike most of the other types of printers you'll find. The first difference you'll notice are the inkjet cartridges. While there are all sorts of differently sized cartridges in the store, the Epson ink cartridges that the Epson Stylus Photo R2880 take are definitely odd when you compare them to almost all of the others. Called UltraChrome K3 cartridges, these are extremely small. They have the ability to give your photos an astounding amount of color, and they also have a wonderful tonal range as well.

The Good

As stated above, one of the best things about this printer are the colors that you can get out of it. If you're someone who loves vivid color, the prints that come out of this will be something that you'll definitely enjoy again and again. The high contrast capability follows through to black and white prints as well. While you'll find gray in the photos, you'll notice that the blacks are extremely black and that the whites are definitely white. The printer is very quiet as well, with many people stating that they never even know it's printing simply because it seems to be equipped with a stealth-running mode that ensures even your baby won't wake up when you print a photo.

The Bad

There are a few bad things about the Epson Stylus Photo R2880 printer. First, some people say that it can be tricky to get set up properly, likely due to the small size of the cartridges and the software that is bundled with the printer. Many others suggest there are problems if you try to run it with any sort of Adobe software.

The Verdict

While there may be a few glitches if you're trying to get it up and running quickly, overall this is one printer that does what it says it will and that gives you high quality, high contrast photos that you're certain to love.
