A Review of the HP LaserJet P4014n

If you are ready to step your business up, or your printing has simply exceeded expectations, you may be more than willing to pay the hefty initial investment of nine hundred before tax for the Hewlett-Packard LaserJet P4014n. After all, the money is not a complete waste; you will get what you pay for. This printer excels in business applications with impressive speed, consistency, endurance and standard equipment in a small package only 16.5 x 17.7 x 15.5 inches.

Hewlett-Packard has paid serious attention to the needs of the high-paced business world in creating this printer, capable of turning out a highly impressive 45 black print pages per minute and bragging a quality of 1200 x 1200 dots per inch. That is not all. This printer is not likely to tire before your most vigorous employees as the manufactures give it a duty cycle of 175,000 pages per month- that is well over 5000 pages per day. The machine comes equipped with two paper trays that handle a total of 600 sheets- a 100-sheet multipurpose tray and a 500-sheet input tray. Plus, for the seriously busy, they sell an optional 500-sheet input tray and an optional 1500-sheet input tray. That means you could be operating with up to 4 trays capable of printing 3600-sheets before refilling. But, if you your company takes advantage of the advanced networking system available on this printer, you may desire those print levels as you company grows. Hp certainly did not want to see the company outgrow the printer too quickly.

What are the downfalls? HP seems to have had in mind a sort of customizable printer, as there are many optional features to consider and each will cost additional money on top of the already high price. For instance, in order to have the duplex capability- two-sided printing- standard with many office printers- you will have to fork over an additional two-hundred eighty dollars. Furthermore, the optional seventy-five sheet envelope feeder will cost another two-hundred forty-nine dollars when bought direct from the manufacturer. So, if you would like the fully-loaded model, you are looking at dropping close to what the average man would consider a month's salary. However, this price still falls short of the laser printers meant for larger business, but the LaserJet P4014n, especially in its fully-loaded state offers many of the same features of the bigger, higher priced varieties.

Although, the total expense can seem very intimidating, the nice part about this machine is that it can grow with your company. Add components as they become necessary, rather than spending the whole sum at one time. However, the automatic duplex part comes highly recommended for offices that will require it ever- even it is only on the rarest occasions, manual feeding can drastically slow the office flow. So, for the mid-sized company who has outgrown its old printer, or the start up office that expects to print in overwhelming quantities right of the start line, the LaserJet P4014n by Hewlett-Packard may just be the networking, fast-paced, high-quality machine you seek.
