Kodak 5500 Review
All in one printers are popular these days, and why shouldn't they be? Most of them offer all of the functionality you need in one simple piece of equipment. What's more, though, is that they typically come with an affordable price tag, and that's good news to families and small businesses across the country. The Kodak EasyShare 5500 is little different in that regard. It's been designed for all kinds of users, and prints come out exactly as you expect, whether you're creating documentation for a big presentation or printing the photos from your daughter's kindergarten graduation.
The Best Parts
Kodak suggests this model can save users quite a bit of money when compared to many of the other inkjet models on today's market, and that seems to be true. Many users have complained about the size of this model, but when you consider how much space you probably take up with your scanner and your fax machine, and combine that with your printer, this really isn't that big given all it can do.
Perhaps one of the best parts of this, especially if you plan to do quite a bit of photo printing, is the one click printing from your memory card. You can just upload your photos to the printer without the need for a computer, and that's really helpful when you're on the go. Also important to note is the handy USB ports, so no matter whether you have a Kodak camera or something else, you'll be able to print everything you want right away.
The control panel is also pretty easy to use. It has a 2.4 inch LCD color display, and even that has features you probably wouldn't have imagined. It's on a swivel, so you can move it into a vertical position if you're on the move and see it a bit easier.
If you intend to use the scanner on a regular basis, you're in luck. It has an automatic document feeder, which is really important if you're going to do a lot of copying or scanning. It can take up to thirty-five sheets at a time. If you intend to do some faxing, there are features there that you probably want to pay attention to as well. It can fax documents in color, which is a really neat feature for an all in one printer. It can also print two sided documents, something that not all printers can. It has two cartridges with six different inks, and that makes for great color and black and white documents.
When you get it, you'll get the printer and the software in the box. You also get a one-year warranty, an adapter, the guide to set it up, the power cord, and the two sided printing accessory. You also get all of the ink you'll need to get started and a sample paper pack.
If you're thinking about the EasyShare 5500, you may want some technical details too. It can run on XP or Vista. If you're using a Mac, you'll need 10.4.8 or higher. You also need to have at least 3 GB of memory and 200 MB of disk space before you install this on your computer.
The price on this one varies from store to store, but most places have it for $150 or so these days, and while that's a bit higher than some budget models, it's worth the price.
