Decorate your home with your fine photos printed on canvas paper.
In a previous article we walked our guests through the basic steps of printing photos on canvas sheets. In today's article we wanted to take it a step further and talk about how to decorate your home with your fine photos printed on canvas paper. This will hopefully give you even more ideas on how to use your own art that you created within your home. You never know, you might be able to turn your hobby into a small business!
So, a basic recap about what you will need for printing on canvas; basic home computer with some type of photo software (most come with their own), an inkjet printer, a package of canvas sheets and some images you like. NOTE that the canvas sheets are different than regular canvas that is stretched on a frame so don't try using the regular canvas. We tried it and it didn't work! If you have a scanner to import drawings or other images, that would be great but is certainly not needed.
Take a look around in the area where you think you might like to add your canvas to get a feel for the theme of the room. Are you already decorating with items that fit into a French Country design, or perhaps, you enjoy geometric shapes in your décor. Looking around your room will give you a little inspiration for the feel of your artwork. Perhaps you would just like to add a few portraits of friends or family, that's fine too. Once you are inspired, look on your computer for images or pictures that will compliment your room nicely.
Whether you want a large piece or several smaller items to place on a small table or dresser, think about where you are going to place the item or items and start pulling in your photos. Once you have what you want, make sure to print a test page if you aren't familiar with how your printer will handle the paper. Using some cardstock is a good suggestion as it is fairly thick which your canvas sheets will be as well. Adjust your printer setting accordingly as well as your printer thickness lever (if you have one). This will allow the printer to pull the sheet in without any hang-ups.
Now that you have your printed canvas sheet, what do you do with it? Well, that's up to you but there are many options. It doesn't have to be an ordinary picture hanging on the wall you know. You can create a pillow or quilt with these sheets. We created one for our grandmother with all of the grand-children's faces quilted with some of her fabric quilting scraps in between the pictures. Because the images last so long on the canvas, this is truly a gift she will always be able to keep and cherish. Creating lamp shades is another great thing you can use these for, especially in a themed room for kids. The uses are endless and all you have to do is look around to get some ideas and then go create!
