Cartridge Type
Genuine or OEM (Original) Cartridges Remanufactured Cartridges Compatible Cartridges
Description OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer, meaning the cartridge was made by the same company that made your printer. Original brand cartridges are very reliable and sometimes the only option if your printer is new to market or uncommon. Remanufactured ink is a genuine brand cartridge that has gone through one cycle of use. After use, the cartridge is recycled, acquired by a remanufacturing facility and put through a rigorous professional refurbishing process. During the refurbishing process the cartridge is disassembled, thoroughly cleaned and tested for quality. It's then carefully refilled, tested again and brought back to life. Buying remanufactured prevents one less cartridge from ending up in a landfill. A compatible cartridge is a brand new ink cartridge built by a manufacturer other than your printer. It's like buying the generic version of the genuine brand. Most are uniquely designed to differentiate from genuine cartridges. Despite any structural difference you may notice, the cartridge will still fit in your machine and print a full yield, just like the original brand.
Price Factors Many printer manufacturers follow the razor-and-blades business model which may result in higher priced genuine cartridges. Remanufactured ink is much cheaper than the original brand ink. It's far more cost effective to refurbish a previously used cartridge than create a new OEM from scratch. Compatible ink is much cheaper than the original brand. Compatible suppliers don't have to worry about the additional costs that hinder OEMs like new printers or firmware, which lets them keep prices low.
Quality Original cartridges work extremely well and are covered under a warranty by the printer manufacturer High quality remanufactured ink will match the quality of the original, but not all remanufactured ink is created equal. Make sure you buy from a reputable supplier in order to get the absolute best results. High quality compatible ink will match the quality of the original, but not all compatible ink is created equal. Make sure you buy from a reputable supplier in order to get the absolute best results.
What's the difference between ink and toner cartridges?
Ink Cartridges Toner Cartridges
Printer Type Work with inkjet printers Work with laser printers
Material Liquid ink Dry powder
How it works Inkjet printers use a series of nozzles that spray tiny drops of ink directly on the print suface Laser toner printers use static electricity and heat to bond dry toner powder to a page
Commonly used by Casual home users, small business and photographers Large businesses and schools
Number of Pages You Can Print A cartridge's page yield is the estimated number of pages you can print. Page yield is based on 5% page coverage. This means that the quoted page yield is based upon printed pages where only 5% of the page has been imprinted with ink. For example, a short memo has approximately 5% coverage. If you have a cartridge that has a yield of 500 pages, it can print 500 pages of that short memo. If you are printing letters, photos or graphics, your coverage will vary greatly and your page yield will drop significantly.
Cartridge Warranty and Shelf Life Most ink and toner cartridges include a warranty or "best by" date on their box. Remanufactured and compatible ink cartridges can last 12-18 months unopened, and toner cartridges can last up to 3 years.
Cartridge Care and Storage Only open a cartridge when you need it. Opened cartridges will eventually dry out, especially if the protective tape or clip has been removed. If you have an open ink cartridge around and would like to try and prevent it from drying out, place it nozzle side up in a plastic airtight tub. If your cartridge came with protective tape or a clip reapply both before storing. Place a damp cloth or paper towel in the tub, next to the cartridge and keep it stored in a cool, dark place.

I have purchased cartridges from SimplyInk for over a year and as a result have realized a significant dollar savings as compared to purchasing from traditional outlets, and the print quality is equally good. I have had only one issue with SimplyInk and that was when I ordered ink cartridges for a new and additional printer. The new printer is a HP Photosmart Premium and the cartridges I ordered from SimplyInk leaked and made a tremendous mess. However, when I called SimplyInk and reported the problem they immediately took care of the return and refunding the money I had paid for the defected cartridges. I do not know if they have corrected the problem since I have not placed a second order for my new printer. But, I continue to buy for my other printers. Their customer service, at least from my perspective, is superb. I highly recommend SimplyInk--Just wished they had good cartridges for the HP Photosmart..

I am only writing this because I rely heavily on reviews when I purchase something. I am an IT specialist and typically my rule has always, always been to buy the manufactures product only for printers, specifically HP. But because of the reviews I purchased off this site, wanting to save money, and it was a poor choice. I purchased several colors of cartridges and also the black, and none would work in my machine, and since then it is working very poorly and I am not happy. The return process is easy and a snap, but I have not received my credit and am going to have to work on that. I do not like the extra time spent having to deal with this either. But I knew better, so shame on me, I hope not shame on you now.
Good luck.

Great Deals

Comments about Remanufactured High Yield Cyan Ink for HP 88XL:

I have used these cartridges for approx. 8 years. Seldom have had any problems. Remember if you purchase ahead, these cartridges do expire, and after they expire they will not work in your printer. Believe me, I know as I purchased around 5 cartridges of each color to get a better deal and to have on hand. I didn't use them as quickly as I thought I would and they did expire. There is no expiration date on the box as to their expiration, so I had too many and they did expire and were useless. So I now purchase them according to my present needs. They last longer than the name brand cartridges and cost much, much less.

Comments about Remanufactured High Yield Cyan Ink for HP 88XL:

I have been ordering from 123inkjets for my HP L7680 for at least 3 years and have never had a problem or a complaint until now. This time my printer says the cartridges are not HP and should not be used in my printer. Also, I couldn't checkout through PayPal. I won't be ordering again.

Did not ship when it was supposed to.

Comments about Remanufactured High Yield Black Ink for HP 88XL:

So far the product has worked great. However, this product was listed as having "same day shipping" with 1-4 days shipping. I ordered it late Monday and expected it to ship on Tuesday. It didn't ship until Wednesday. When I contacted someone to find out why it didn't ship out sooner I got the typical response "it was out of stock". Although, the shipping was not as described, I'm happy with the product thus far.

Comments about Remanufactured High Yield Black Ink for HP 88XL:

Over the past two years, I've used a total of six of these re-manufactured ink cartridges (two each of black, cyan, magenta, and yellow). All of them worked perfectly with my HP7780 AIO. The ink levels were consistently reported and the ink itself gave me no problems. Today ordered another batch of four cartridges.

Excellent product and extreme value

Comments about Remanufactured High Yield Black Ink for HP 88XL:

My firm writes many project proposals and I use HP Officejet Pro K550's as the workhorse. In fact I have three of these printers. I have spent a small fortune buying the original HP ink cartridges at OfficeMax until an Internet search lead me to 123 Inkjets. I ordered three HP 88XL black ink cartridges which arrived in three days as promised and work flawlessly. I can tell these contain more ink because of the difference in weight vs. the original HP ink cartridges.
I paid about $8 each as compared to about $60 at OfficeMax with state tax. I fully endorse 123 Inkjets.
